Earlier this year, Turisas was asked to participate on Metal Hammer‘s special Black Sabbath Tribute CD with covers of Sabbath classics. So far Hammer have created tribute CDs for Dimebag, AC/DC and Judas Priest by inviting bands to specially record exclusive covers. Each track has been recording especially for Hammer and won’t be available elsewhere – make sure you buy your copy!

Turisas’ explosive version of “Supernaut” (originally on the legendary Black Sabbath album Vol. 4) can be found with the new Metal Hammer issue #209, on sale on 25 August.

In other news, Turisas is currently putting the finishing touches to their third album (TBA), the release date of which will be published in the near future. Follow the recording process at http://www.youtube.com/user/turisasofficial

Turisas will be featured on a Finnish TV show Iiro irti (“Iiro Unleashed”) by renowned pianist and TV personality Iiro Rantala. Each episode will show Rantala, a well-known Finnish crossover musician with roots in jazz, taking part in performances by bands and artists of various genres. Turisas was asked to show Rantala how to put up a proper metal show, while the other episodes feature Finland’s top artists from blues, schlager, rock and chamber music genres. Rantala will join Turisas onstage in Ruisrock, Turku on Saturday 10 July (Main Stage, 13.45-14.45) and the performance will be broadcast on 15 August on Yle Teema, a channel of Finnish National TV.

Turisas on mukana pianovirtuoosi Iiro Rantalan uudessa TV-ohjelmassa Iiro Irti, joka kuvataan tänä kesänä. Jokaisessa jaksossa Rantala, joka tunnetaan muun muassa jazz-yhtye Trio Töykeiden perustajana, liittyy eri artistin keikalle bändin ulkojäseneksi musiikkityylien vaihdellessa metallista kamarimusiikkiin. Turisasta pyydettiin mukaan näyttämään kuinka rakennetaan kunnon metallishow; muissa jaksoissa Rantala nähdään lavalla muun muassa Eino Grönin, Erja Lyytisen ja Eppu Normaalin kanssa. Rantalan ja Turisaan yhteiskeikka kuvataan Turun Ruisrockissa lauantaina 10. heinäkuuta (Niittylava 13.45-14.45) ja se nähdään Yle Teemalla 15. elokuuta.

Turisas are confirmed for Sonisphere Festival UK, taking place in Knebworth 30th July to 1st August. The festival line-up features performances of Iron Maiden, Rammstein and Mötley Crüe to name a few. See Turisas live on Saturn stage, Friday 30th July.

You may have seen an announcement by JSR that the Turisas Australian tour is cancelled. The truth is that they have gone bust and have pulled out of all their commitments, including our tour.

However, we are not willing to give up so easily, and are currently in negotiations with another promoter to save these shows and continue with the tour as planned. We are doing everything we can to make this happen. Everyone who has tickets already should hold on to them until further notice.

We will keep you updated, and please note that the only official word on this tour will come from us – ignore anything else you may hear!
